Teleserye Throwback: Magkaribal

Last 2010, ABS-CBN and Star Television - Star Cinema's TV Production Unit - produced a first in Philippine Teleseryes - a fashionserye. At eto ang MAGKARIBAL. The soap premiered last June 28, 2010 and ended November 5, 2010.

Originally, the soap was supposed to star the sisters Claudine and Gretchen Barretto, pero lumipat si Claudine sa kabilang network. And she was replaced by Bea Alonzo. :) Other stars in the show were Angel Aquino, Derek Ramsay, Erich Gonzales and Enchong Dee. Kasama rin sina Mark Gil, Arlene Muhlach, John Arcilla, Bianca Manalo, Nina Ricci Alagao, Marc Abaya and Mr. Robert Arevalo. It is written by BJ Lingan, Tin Novicio, Jimuel dela Cruz, Jessie Villabrille and head written by G3 San Diego and Jay Fernando. And directed by no less Nuel C. Naval and Mae Czarina Cruz.

The cast of Magkaribal

The story of the soap centers on two sisters - Anna/Victoria (Gretchen Barretto) and Angela/Gelai (Alonzo) - separated by fate, and will find themselves again in the fashion world, not as sisters, but as rivals. They will also fight for the love of the same man - in the name of Louie (Ramsay). This also a story of an adopted child wanting the love of her adoptive mother, trying to get her attention by doing something she doesn't love - Chloe (Gonzales) - who will find real love in a person of a man also trying to prove himself that he is capable of being loved by the woman he desires - Caloy (Dee). And most of all, a story of a woman trying to keep her position as the Queen of Philippine Fashion after being threatened by a woman of her past - Vera (Aquino).


Eto yung soap na sobrang di ko pinalagpas na kahit puyat na puyat ako e talagang wala akong pakialam kahit di ako matulog sa sobrang naging favorite ko siya. Nung unang pinakita ang full trailer nito after TV Patrol, if I am not mistaken mga June 21 yan pinakita. Nagandahan kami ng ate ko at ang bongga talaga.

Anyway, ang nga hindi ko makakalimutan sa teleseryeng ito ay (pili lang kasi Throwback to, hindi tribute. Hehe.):

1. The role of Carolina (Irma Adlawan), sayang at nagkaroon ng MC's Kristine. Kung nagkataon ang tagal pa sana ng role niya. Super cute and nakakatawa. Hahaha! I can still remember her line noong ayaw na niya kay Vera as her personal designer for 10 years. "Oo nga noh... 10 years... kaya Vera?... YOU'RE FIRED!"

2. Ang mga confrontation and "gaguhan" scenes nina Victoria at Vera. Ang samapalan sa CR, ang "red stiletto" scene, and ang "tahol tahol ni Victoria" scene. And memorize ko ang lines ng red stilleto and tahol tahol scenes. Promise di to kopya sa internet so if may mali, sorry. Plus I wrote it ng medyo TV Script form, feelingera ako eh. Pero please. Wala po sa akin ang script, baka macopyright ako. Memorize ko lang talaga sya! :)

Vera!

VERA
Naliligaw ka yata?

VICTORIA
Oh no... this is exactly where I want to be.

Bebeso si Victoria kay Vera. Itutulak ni Vera si Victoria.

VERA
You know, if you're looking for a job,
then I'm sorry to say hindi ka bagay dito,
we don't hire social climbing whores here!

VICTORIA
Oh my dear, evil, aging stepmother!
I'm not just looking for any kind of job.
I already have one. Now I want yours.
Gusto kong i-announce mo sa susunod na board meeting,
na ako na, ang magiging bagong presidente ng FDGP.

Tatawa si Vera.

VERA
What?! Are you high? At bat ko naman gagawin yon?!

VICTORIA
Because! I know, your dirty little secret.
And I'm not talking about that stunt you played yesterday...
which reminds me, you will be receiving a subpoena soon.
I'm talking about another dirty little secret,
by the name of... Gelai... Agustin.
(beat)
How do you think the board will react pag nalaman nilang,
nakaw ang collection mo?
They might just hand me, the presidency on a silver platter!
But of course Vera, I'm much more gracious than that.
Papayagan ko naman yung graceful exit mo.
Gusto ko, you will turn over to me the presidency.

VERA
Never! No!
Not to you, not ever!
It will take a war to bring me down Victoria!

VICTORIA
Really?
You want war, I'll give you war!
Sabihin mo lang kung saan, at kailan.
I'll be there in my red stilettos!

TAHOL NI VICTORIA SCENE:

VICTORIA
What brings you here Vera?

VERA
You know what brought me here.
I'm here to congratulate you ano pa nga ba?
Alam mo, ang galing galing mo noh.
You'll never really go down without a fight!
And that pregnancy? Oh BRAVO!

Uupo sana si Vera but Victoria stops her.

VICTORIA
Na-ah! Oh no!
I didn't invite you to sit down, you trespasser!
You may leave now Vera.

VERA
No, not yet!
See, I brought you and your baby, a gift basket!

VICTORIA looks at the basket.
Eew.

And at Vera.
Double Eew.
Nicole! Nicole! Pakilabas nga tong babaeng to! Right now!

VERA
Enough with the hysterics Victoria.
Nakakasawa na.
I'm just here to give you some advice
and I know you're not going to take this well.
(beat)
Actually, naaawa ako sa'yo.
I think you're too old to be a disgrasyada Victoria.
Pang-teenagers lang yan!
And I don't think Louie,
I don't think he intends na panagutan yang batang nasa sinapupunan mo.
Dahil sila ni Gelai, itutuloy nila ang kasal nila no matter what you do.
So I suggest that you pack your Berkins and fly somewhere
kung saan makakalimutan mo si Louie at ang obsession mo sa kanya.

VICTORIA
Get, out!

Tatahol si Victoria. Sisigaw si Vera and runs to the door

VERA
She's just crazy, you're crazy, crazy!

3. Ang pagkikita ni Gelai and Victoria at ang aminan na magkapatid sila. Lagi akong naiiyak everytime na
papanuorin ko to... I can still remember their outfits at ang mismong eksena. Can't write dahil tahimik lang ang eksena except for a couple of lines ni Victoria and ang pagpasok ng theme song. :)

4. Ang mga bigating fashion shows at ang mga intro nila.
First Fashion Show: V vs. V - The Tug-of-War fashion show. :)
VICTORIA: True beauty has finally arrived! My collection is about the 2010 women, driven to succeed, in search for beauty, inspired by passion!
VERA: My collection is all about...LOVE, a love for that dream...(i forgot forgot)...we simply can't deny. Give me some love my dear beautiful friends, the Vera Couture Collection!
Then ang bigating paglabas ni Gelai with her gown. I love that gown talaga!

Second Fashion Show: The Face-Off
VICTORIA: Ano na ang gagawin mo pag ang puso mo na ang namatay...(tapos ang name ng collection niya, Strength Springs Eternal)
GELAI: Dahil nagdadrama siya, ang mga kaibigan niya sa Divisoria ang nag-intro. :)
Isama natin dito ang nangyaring pagkakapareho sa designs nila for the finale dress. :)

Third Fashion Show: Abella-Agustin Collection - The Finale.
Nakalimutan ko na Intro, pero siyempre eto ang ending, kaya...

5. Ang Controversial Ending! Nakakaloka ang akala ng iba namatay si Gelai at nabagsakan ng chandelier!

Kung bumili kayo ng DVD, andun ang tunay na nangyari, 1 second lang yung eksena. :) Hehe. Pero ang pinaka matindi dito was the very very ending... yung nag Pan Up na tayo at lumabas ang mga salitang "The FINALE". I swear, sa buong duration ng teleseryeng ito, dito sa part na ito ako pinaka naiyak. Kasi parang, for 19 weeks, every 9:15, 9:30 na naging 9:45, eto na yung naging buhay ko. Tapos nung inulit ko siya sa DVD, naiyak pa rin ako. :') Jusko. No dramang halo!

WAG KAYO. Kahit di ako nanunuod ng DVD, kaya kong ikwento mula umpisa hanggang dulo ang
Magkaribal. Hahaha Joke. Pero swear. Kasi mga more than 20 times ko na siya napapanuod. And I should say hindi nakakasawa at the best pa rin talaga ang soap na ito. Isama mo yung mga pabago-bagong mga OBB, yung opening theme and the series' musical scoring, at mga title ng bawat chapter, bongga! :) Eto pala listahan ng mga titles. Hahaha! Lagyan din natin ng significant events. :)

1-5  "The UNVEILING" - ang pag u-unveil ng billboard ni Victoria replacing Vera's billboard.
6-13 "The TUG-OF-WAR" - the fashion show of Victoria and Vera.
14-23 "The GREAT FIGHT" -unang nagstart ang pagkakaroon ng association ni Gelai at Louie for the event Vera's mounting to get Alexander Jacobs.
24-28 "The SPECIAL DAY" -ang birthday ni Gelai Agustin na cinelebrate niya sa isang ampunan.
29-36 "The TAKEOVER" -Victoria takes over as the biggest shareholder of the Abella Group of Companies.
37-46 "The V-LABEL" -The Vera Couture changes to an RTW store courtesy of Victoria, na pinalitan din ang name as the V-label.
47-55 "The FUNERAL" -Manuel dies after falling from a building during V-Label's launch. Bago siya namatay, nalaman niyang anak niya si Gelai.
56-59 "The DECEPTION" - something happened between Gelai and Louie, at nalaman ni Gelai na si Louie si Dos, ang kababata niya. BUT before that, may nangyari din kay Louie at Victoria.
60-63 "The MAKEOVER" - After winning a competition, and with the help of Mark Laurel, Gelai gets her status as a bonggang designer and owned a shop named the Gelai Agustin shop. Dito din niya malalaman na nabuntis ni Louie si Victoria. She then decides na kalabanin si Victoria for the Metrowear fashion show.
64-72 "The WEDDING" - Papakasalan pa rin ni Gelai si Louie despite what happened, pero hindi ito matutuloy dahil makukunan si Victoria.
73-78 "The SEPARATION" - Napagdesisyunan ni Gelai and Louie that they are good as friends, pero naging sila rin uli.

79-86 "The REVEAL" - Nalaman ni Donna na magkapatid si Gelai at Victoria. Plus, malalaman din ni Gelai na si Vera talaga ang may hawak sa kanya and Mark Laurel is a fraud.
87-91 "The FACE-OFF" - The Metrowear Fashion Show happens. Magkakapareho ng finale dress design si Gelai at Victoria, paving the way para magkaalaman sila sa tunay nilang koneksyon.
92-93 "The FIRE" - Masusunog ang Gelai Agustin shop, mamamatay si Louie, magkakaaminan ang magkapatid.
94 "The FINALE" - The final episode of the series na naikwento ko na. Hahaha.

Anyway, ito na siguro ang longest Throwback Teleserye natin. Obvious bang pinaka favorite ko 'to? Hahaha. Bongga itong show na ito dahil na-i-dub na ito sa France with the title 'Rivales'. Bongga diba! :) Sana gumawa pa ng maraming teleseryeng ganito ang atake. Sayang sana yung 'Alta' pero keri na rin. :) I will always love Magkaribal! <3 p="">
