We Review: Pagpag: Siyam na Buhay

As one of the most-awaited movies in the MMFF, Pagpag proved its promise and that it is worth-watching for. As Star Cinema and Regal Films - two of the best horror-film producers in the country - collaborate again for the first time in years, they were able to keep their legacy.

The story of Pagpag is somewhat similar to Feng Shui, a Kris Aquino horror movie. Cedric (Daniel Padilla) and his friends Hannah (Michelle Vito), Ashley (Miles Ocampo), Justin (CJ Navato) and Rico (Dominic Roque) came across the wake of Roman (Paulo Avelino) after bumping with Leni (Kathryn Bernardo) - a funeral parlor owner who organized Roman's wake. Lucy (Shaina Magdayao) welcomes them in the house. Cedric's friends soon violates the beliefs in the wake - which results later on to numerous and horrific deaths of the characters. Leni and Cedric are now deemed to solve the mystery.

Something New: Star Cinema's Bride For Rent

This 2014, for its opening salvo and still part of its 20th anniversary, Star Cinema gives you its first romantic film of 2014! At ito na nga ang Bride For Rent! It stars the love team of Kim Chiu and Xian Lim (fresh from Bakit Hindi Ka Crush ng Crush Mo?) with Miss Pilita Corrales.

Basing from the trailer, ang kuwento ng Bride For Rent ay tungkol kay Rocco (Xian) na kailangang makuha ang trust fund from his grandmother (Pilita Corrales)... but before he can get that, kailangan niyang sundin ang kundisyon ng lola niya - at yun ay ang magpakasal. Kaloka diba! Kaya naman naisipan niyang mag "rent" ng bride, at yun na nga si Rocky (Kim) na nangangailangan din ng pera. They will act like a real couple, and soon they will find each other falling in love!

We Review: She's The One

Last October 16, 2013, nag-showing na ang isa sa pinakainaabangang movies ng Star Cinema this year for its' 20th Anniversary, ang She's The One. Ito ay pinangungunahan ng top-Kapamilya actress Bea Alonzo and top-Kapuso actor Dingdong Dantes. This is the first non-MMFF movie of Dantes and his 3rd movie for Star Cinema. Kasama rin dito sina Enrique Gil and Liza Soberano. This is under the direction of known-director for SC's kilig movies (and my personal favorite!) Direk Mae Czarina Cruz.

She's The One is about bestfriends Cat (Alonzo) and Wacky (Dantes). Despite their chemistry and despite a kiss that happened one night, never na naging sila and they remained bestfriends. But they have hidden feelings for each other...well except for Cat na alam nang buong barkada niya. One night, in a middle of a typhoon, nasiraan si Cat ng kotse, and a guy named David (Gil) saw her and immediately caught his attention, kaya naman vinideohan niya ito and he posted sa Internet with the hashtag #girlintherain. At dahil pabagsak na ang ratings ng morning show ni Wacks, he helped David about this Girl in the Rain. Later on, malalaman na si Cat pala ito. Fast forward to everything, magiging si David and Cat, and Wacky will get jealous.
