Pure Love Pilot Week Review

Last Monday, ABS-CBN finally aired its adaptation of 2011's top-rated Koreanovela "Pure Love" with Alex Gonzaga and Yen Santos as the leads (refer to my Pre-Pure Love Experience post for more information about Pure Love. :D). It received favorable ratings comparing to its rival show from other networks and its episodes, hashtags and characters also entered the Trending Topics on the micro-blogging site Twitter. But what is really with Pure Love's pilot week?

Anyway, in the pilot week, all major characters have been introduced. The story centers around Dianne Santos, a rich lady who has everything - fortune, beauty, loving parents, loyal bestfriends, a sweet and handsome fiancee and a golden heart. She was surprised by her friends Jackie and Kayla in her birthday, but she got more surprised when her boyfriend Raymond proposed to her. We also met Ysabel Espiritu, a depressed lady who wants to die and feels like she doesn't need to live anymore. One day, as Ysabel tries to commit suicide, she created a chaos in the streets and a big road accident happened, which unfortunately included Dianne. After Dianne's car bumped with a truck, she was thrown out of the car but sees her body inside, unconscious and hurt. She finds out, through a man called Scheduler, that she's not yet dead. And for her to be able to return to her body, she needs to find three pure tears from three people that truly loves her in 40 Days, and as a help, she can use the body of Ysabel who works at night and sleeps during the day. And there she will learn more about the people around her and their secrets, and most especially about herself as well.

So far, I love the character of Dianne (to the point that I imitate her actions - but because we have actually almost the same personality! Lol.) because of her quirkiness, at the same time her desperation for her to go back to her body. Plus let's add the fact that Alex Gonzaga's portrayal is also good, though I can sometimes see the Alex in Dianne. :) But the biggest surprise of all is Yen Santos as Dianne. She really portrays the role very well and she can also differentiate her nuances and actions from that of Ysabel and Dianne. But I am excited to know the twists in Ysabel's character.

Joseph Marco is really an eye candy. He registers well in the camera and his portrayal as the guy who, as Dianne said, has a life-sucks attitude. Despite his character's kasungitan, he still looks so handsome. Let's also commend the chemistry he has with both actresses Alex and Yen! I am excited for his character's secrets to unveil, and for his topless scenes as well. :) Arjo Atayde also works out his charm as Raymond. His flashbacks scenes with Alex Gonzaga makes me kilig! I actually did not expect it but they have the chemistry as well! And I am also excited once the twist in his character unveils - example is Friday's episode. As for the other cast members, they also did well, despite that most of them are newbies.

As for the show itself, its visuals are very lovely to the eyes. You will never get tired of your eyes being glued on the screen because of that. The shots are very refreshing, and the effects do not look cheap. Rather, the show has the Koreanovela feel, affirmed by the cute graphics shown whenever Scheduler and Dianne will discuss their rules and countdowns, and the musical scoring as well. It is definitely a light drama because of Dianne's funny actions. And the best fact is that they do not try to be comic, but it is really innate in the story that it is light and the humor is not trying hard just for the show to be funny. The pacing is also past that you will never get bored with the story.

I am pretty sure that Pure Love will maintain its treatment and story. And I hope the ratings will. :)

The Pre-'Pure Love' Experience

Finally, at 5:45 PM today, one of the most exciting and much-awaited teleseryes of ABS-CBN will start airing! And that is - PURE LOVE!

The new teleserye stars Alex Gonzaga and Yen Santos as Dianne and Ysabel, with Joseph Marco, Arjo Atayde, Matt Evans, Yam Concepcion, Arron Villaflor and new actress Anna Luna. The story is about Dianne who meets an accident and gets in a comatose state. For her to get back to her body, she must find 3 pure tears. She then uses Ysabel's body to find out who truly loves her. And secrets will be revealed.

If you can remember, Pure Love is actually an adaptation of the Koreanovela aired in the Philippines in 2011 in ABS-CBN's Primetime. (Pure Love 2011 aired July 11 and served as ABS-CBN's birthday offering for me hahaha LOL. And Pure Love 2014 is airing on July 7. Count the days and you'll notice that the pilot episodes aired for the same week. Just  made a big deal out of it. Hahaha.)

A day after it was officially announced that it will be aired, My best guy friend Mart and I were able to meet one of the writers - Miss Bing Castro (remember Paraiso, she was the headwriter! :D Check previous episodes of Jimpy TV!) and interview the show's Associate Producer (and a former Paulinian as well!) Miss Rina Parza for our school paper. :) I was able to talk to them about Pure Love. And we really have to tune in to the twists and turns of the story, plus the production value of the show. Talagang pinaghandaan!

She says there are some changes in the Philippine adaptation like the 49 Days is now changed to 40 days. But they are keeping same elements, except that they made it more Filipino.

It was an honor for me to be able to meet these people (including the show's Executive Producer Miss Row Tan). But the best of all was meeting some of the cast - ALEX GONZAGA, MATT EVANS and my long-time crush JOSEPH MARCO. :)))

And on that Thursday, Mart and I were able to attend the press conference of the show (thanks to again Miss Bing! and Miss Rina!) and saw the rest of the cast and meet the rest of the creative and production team. Most of all, I was able to achieve one of my dreams. Just check out the photos. :)

During the press con, a behind-the-scenes or the making was presented to the press. It is really seen that it is a big-budgeted soap, and that the audience won't be just enticed of the story but its visuals as well. We Review: Pilot Week of Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin

Nagsimula na noong Lunes, September 2, 2013, ang isa sa pinakaabangang teleserye ng ABS-CBN na handled and produced by Prime Teleserye Unit "Dreamscape Entertainment" na Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin. Ito ay pinangungunahan nina Miss Dawn Zulueta at Gerald Anderson, kasama sina Cristine Reyes, Ton-ton Gutierrez, Miss Dina Bonnevie, Rayver Cruz and Diana Zubiri. Under the direction of Direk Jerome Pobocan (Mara Clara, Lorenzo's Time) and Direk Trina Dayrit (Guns and Roses, Walang Hanggan). Ito ay parte ng pagpapatuloy ng ika-60th anniversary ng ABS-CBN

Halos isang taon din ang hinintay para ma-ere ang proyektong ito. Matatandaang ang Diamond Star na si Miss Maricel Soriano talaga dapat ang gaganap sa role ng ina ni Gerald Anderson (that will serve as her comeback) but due to unfortunate circumstances, kailangan niyang iwanan ang project at si Miss Dawn Zulueta ang napiling magtake over sa role na naiwan.

Ang kuwento ng Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin ay umiikot sa mag-inang Zenaida (Dawn Zulueta) at Miguel (Gerald Anderson). Ipapakita nila dito ang pagmamahal ng isang ina sa kanyang anak matapos maakusahan sa isang kasalanang hindi naman ang anak niya ang gumawa. Sa kuwento kasi, nakulong si Miguel after mapagbintangang nang-rape kay Carla (Diana Zubiri).

I Share: My Top Ten Favorite Scenes from Iisa Pa Lamang

Noong nakaraang Bagyong Maring at walang pasok, nadiscover ko ang account ni Mr. June Pascual (I don't know him personally, hehe.) sa Youtube at meron ditong mga bonggang-bonggang moments ng Iisa Pa Lamang na teleserye nina Claudine Barretto, Angelica Panganiba, Cherry Pie Picache, Melissa Ricks, Diether Ocampo at Gabby Concepcion.

Matatandaang sa Week 2 natin ay fineature ko sa Teleserye Throwback ang show na ito na may kasama pang mga lines. Ngayon naman sa Week 10, ipapakita natin mismo ang mga eksenang talagang masarap ulit-ulitin at nakakatuwang panuorin na meron pang mga matitindi at nakakatuwang lines! Tara't simulan na natin ang countdown. :)

Teleserye Throwback: Magkaribal

Last 2010, ABS-CBN and Star Television - Star Cinema's TV Production Unit - produced a first in Philippine Teleseryes - a fashionserye. At eto ang MAGKARIBAL. The soap premiered last June 28, 2010 and ended November 5, 2010.

Originally, the soap was supposed to star the sisters Claudine and Gretchen Barretto, pero lumipat si Claudine sa kabilang network. And she was replaced by Bea Alonzo. :) Other stars in the show were Angel Aquino, Derek Ramsay, Erich Gonzales and Enchong Dee. Kasama rin sina Mark Gil, Arlene Muhlach, John Arcilla, Bianca Manalo, Nina Ricci Alagao, Marc Abaya and Mr. Robert Arevalo. It is written by BJ Lingan, Tin Novicio, Jimuel dela Cruz, Jessie Villabrille and head written by G3 San Diego and Jay Fernando. And directed by no less Nuel C. Naval and Mae Czarina Cruz.

The cast of Magkaribal

The story of the soap centers on two sisters - Anna/Victoria (Gretchen Barretto) and Angela/Gelai (Alonzo) - separated by fate, and will find themselves again in the fashion world, not as sisters, but as rivals. They will also fight for the love of the same man - in the name of Louie (Ramsay). This also a story of an adopted child wanting the love of her adoptive mother, trying to get her attention by doing something she doesn't love - Chloe (Gonzales) - who will find real love in a person of a man also trying to prove himself that he is capable of being loved by the woman he desires - Caloy (Dee). And most of all, a story of a woman trying to keep her position as the Queen of Philippine Fashion after being threatened by a woman of her past - Vera (Aquino).

 OKAY. Pinanganak kasi ako, 1995. Noong 1996, or one year old pa lang ako, tandang tanda ko na pinapanuod dito sa bahay, MariMar. Ang eksena pa noon, nasusunog ang bahay ng Lolo't Lola ni MariMar. Yun na lang naaalala ko, pero vivid pa sakin kung ano ang nangyayari. :) Meron ding one time na Mara Clara ang palabas, pero ang naaalala ko na lang, logo. Then dumating ang Esperanza. Ang pinaka-vivid pa sa akin na memory diyan, yung namatay ang character ni Angelika dela Cruz. Binaril siya ni Carmina Villaroel, or nabangga ata yung kotse nila. :) 1999 naman nung natapos ang Mula sa Puso, at naaalala ko pa kung paano sumabog ang kotse ni Selina. Tapos ang super nasubaybayan ko talagang tanda tanda ko, Saan Ka Man Naroroon. Nilalaro ko pa ito sa Barbie, yung mga nahuhulog sila sa bangin! Haha! Sa Labs Ko Si Babe kasi, si Carmi Martin na lang naaalala ko na umaakyat ng hagdan na may benda sa ulo. Tapos si Edu Manzano naman, sinave si Zsa-Zsa Padilla dahil masasagasaan siya. (Speaking of, biglang tumugtog ang theme song ng Villa Quintana habang tina-type ko to, sayang di ko napanood yan!) Isama pala natin ang Anna Karenina na ang naalala ko, medyo madami, pero the best yung tumalon si Ruth (Maritoni Fernandez) sa building, nagpakamatay siya, tas labas yung brains niya, KALOKA! :) I can also remember the logo of TGiS flashing on my screen. Haha. Click na kasi at G-Mik ang nasubaybayan ko. Pero I used to watch Gimik and Coney Reyes on Camera back to back noon. Tapos nasundan pa ng Ang Munting Paraiso - inaabangan ko yan every Saturday!

Jimpy Loves TV Specials: A Tribute to Apoy Sa Dagat

Two Fridays ago (July 5), nagwakas na ang isa sa mga inabangang teleserye ng ABS-CBN, ang Apoy Sa Dagat. Nagsimula ito noong February 11 at natapos ng July 5 after 20+ weeks of airing.

To refresh your memory mga Manash, ang  kuwento ng Apoy Sa Dagat ay tungkol sa kambal na sina Rosanna at Rebecca na nagkahiwalay dahil sa isang aksidente na gawa ni Adrianna. Na-amnesia si Rosanna kaya nakilala siya bilang si Serena habang si Rebecca naman ay ni-raise sa marangyang buhay pero hirap siyang makuha ang attention and approval ng kanyang lolang si Donya Ildefonsa.

May mangyayaring trahedya na magiging dahilan para mawala si Rebecca, at magpanggap si Serena bilang Rebecca, na makaka-apekto sa pag-iibigang Ruben at Serena, at Rebecca at Anton.

Jimpy Loves TV Specials: A Tribute to Teen Gen

Just earlier, natapos na ang 8-month old Teenserye ng GMA Network na Teen Gen.

To refresh your memory mga Manash, Teen Gen is a spin-off of the hit youth-oriented show that started everything sa Pilipinas, ang T.G.i.S or Thank God It's Sabado. Matatandaan niyo rin that I made a blog post before tungkol sa biglaang pagka-adik ko sa mga show na ito: I wish I could have joined the teens say 'Thank God It's Sabado'.

Teen Gen became a continuation sa naudlot na love story noon ni Peachy (Angelu de Leon) and Wacks (Bobby Andrews). It also became a room sa launch ng mga bagong teen stars: Dianne Hernandez, Juancho Trivino, Thea Tolentino, Jeric Gonzales, Gianna Revilla, Sunyee Maluche, Seth Isay and Mikoy Morales, who had their own storyline as well.

We Review: The First Two Weeks of My Husband's Lover

Last June 10, 2013, nagsimulang umere ang isa sa inaabangang teleserye ng GMA Network na nakatakdang magbago sa mukha ng Philippine TV - ang My Husband's Lover. Nakaset itong magbago sa Philippine TV dahil sa mapangahas nitong tema na hindi pa nagagawa ever on Philippine TV.

Ang My Husband's Lover ay pinangungunahan nina Carla Abellana (Lally), ang bagong Kapusong si Tom Rodriguez (Vincent) and Dennis Trillo (Eric). Kasama rin nila sina Roi Vinzon, Kuh Ledesma, Karel Marquez, Bettina Carlos, Victor Basa, Kevin Santos and Miss Glydel Mercado. The show's headwriter is the brilliant GMA writer Miss Suzette Doctolero (Encantadia, Amaya, One True Love) and director is Dominic Zapata (TGIS 2nd Gen, Mulawin, Diva, Luna Blanca, Temptation of Wife).

Ang kuwento ng My Husband's Lover ay umiikot sa mag-asawang si Lally at Vincent. Napaaga ang pagpapakasal nila dahil sa hindi inaasahang pagbubuntis ni Lally na ikinagalit ng ina nito. Naging okay ang pagsasama nilang mag-asawa despite sa laging pangingialam ng mother-in-law ni Lally sa kanila. But unknown to Lally, may hindi pa pala siya nalalaman sa kanyang asawa, that her husband is a closet gay. And that Vincent had a past relationship with his High School Bestfriend, si Eric. It was shown in the flashbacks that Eric and Vincent had a colorful and a happy relationship, until Eric needs to go out of the country dahil na-comatose ang daddy niya. At doon nakilala ni Vincent si Lally. And now, Eric is back at nagulat siya na may asawa na si Vincent.

Teleserye Throwback: Kaputol ng Isang Awit

Taong 2007 noong magsimula ang umbrella series ng GMA na "Sine Novela", which serializes classical Viva Movies in television. Karamihan sa naipalabas na Sine Novela ay humataw sa ratings pero may mga mas nagstandout talaga. Isa na rito ang 2008 remake ng pelikula noon na pinagbidahan ni Gary Valenciano, Amy Perez, Eddie Mesa, Ton-ton Gutierrez at Sharon Cuneta, ang Kaputol ng Isang Awit.

Sa 2008 version, ang mga nagsipaganap ay sina Lovi Poe (Joanna Ambrosio), Marky Cielo (Eric Valderama), Jolo Revilla (Marco Salcedo) at Glaiza de Castro (Sarah Monteza). Kasama rin sina Gary Estrada (Julio Ambrosio), Isabel Granada (Boss Elena), Tuesday Vargas (Mimay), Jade Lopez (Daniella), Leo Martinez (Lolo Ige Monteza), Mr. Tirso Cruz III (Arsenio Rivera/Mang Kidlat) and Miss Snooky Serna (Vina Monteza), with a special participation of the then pregnant Jennylyn Mercado (Charmaine Ambrosio). Ang direktor nito ay si Mike Tuviera (Ngayon at Kailanman, Faithfully, Kidlat) and headwriter is Des Garbes-Severino (Coffee Prince)

Something New: Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala

Matapos ang matagumpay na 36-week run ng teleseryeng Ina Kapatid Anak, ABS-CBN and Dreamscape Television, again, proudly present another teleserye na siguradong makaka-capture sa puso ng bawat Kapamilya at higit sa lahat, kapupulutan natin ng aral. Ito ay ang teleseryeng Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala.

Teleserye Throwback: Habang Kapiling Ka

Last 2002, after the success of their first Teledrama under GMA Telebabad na Ikaw Lang Ang Mamahalin, GMA decided to create another teledrama that captured the audience's hearts with the predecessor's star Angelika dela Cruz as the lead again. Ito ang Habang Kapiling Ka.

Bukod kay Angelika dela Cruz (who played Erica Capistrano/Malvarosa), sharing the spotlight with her sa series ay sina Toni Gonzaga (as Emillie Capistrano) and Railey Valeroso (Pierre Paolo Malvarosa/Capistrano). The senior cast was composed of Snooky Serna (Olivia Malvarosa), Ton-Ton Gutierrez (Marius Malvarosa), Chin-Chin Gutierrez (Helga Lamermoore), Alma Moreno (Salve Capistrano) and Albert Martinez (Alejandro Javellana, who was also part of ILAM). The love team of Chynna Ortaleza (Donna Javellana) and Richard Gutierrez (Basilio Malvarosa) also had a follow-up in this soap after they were introduced in Click and Ikaw Lang Ang Mamahalin. Kasama din sa cast sina Victor Neri (Julius Javellana), Zoren Legaspi (Jonas Capistrano), Tootsie Guevarra (Bunny Bravo) and Ruffa Gutierrez (Venus). Added in the cast during the second chapter were Amy Perez (Divine Ogata), Jaime Fabregas (Fausto Bravo), Aleck Bovick (Liway) and Yul Servo (Nonoy Bautista).

The story of Habang Kapiling Ka starts as Olivia gives birth sa isang batang hindi na humihinga. Meanwhile, kasabay niya ring nanganak ay si Paulina (isang maid sa mga Malvarosa), who died after giving birth to a boy. Salve witnesses everything that has happened, kaya naman pinagpalit niya ang mga bata. After that, nadiskubre niyang may isa pang bata kay Paulina, at nabuhay rin ang batang ipinalit niya. Ibabalik na sana niya ang bata but it was too late, gising na si Olivia at pinangalanan na niya ang bata, si Pierre Paolo.

Habang nagaganap ang mga pangyayaring ito, Marius, the husband of Olivia, was hurrying to her upon knowing na manganganak na si Olivia. Unfortunately, his plane crashed and everyone assumed that he died. But unknown to them, itinago lang pala siya ni Judea, isang babaeng nainlove sa kanya upon seeing him.

Kinupkop ni Salve ang dalawang bata after Paulina's death, at pinangalanan niyang Erica at Emillie. Lalaki ng sabay sabay ang tatlo hanggang sa dumating sa point na nagmahalan si Erica at Pierre Paolo. While Olivia moves on after Marius' death in the arms of Alejandro, na bestfriend ni Marius na ang plano lang pala ay makuha ang lahat ng sa kanya. Alejandro, then, had a daughter with Helga, si Donna. Helga abandoned Donna and Venus, her sister, kaya they decided to go kay Alejandro. Meanwhile, there is also Julius, Alejandro's estranged brother who fell in love with Erica, Basilio, a snatcher who will fall for Donna and will be later revealed as Marius' son to Judea, and Jonas, Salve's brother who also fell with the beautiful Venus. Later in the story, papasok si Dra. Divine Ogata, ang magtatayo kay Marius from his downfall, kaya siya magiging si Mr. Kenji Ogata. And Nonoy, another one of Erica's love interests who had a past with Emillie.

Actually, napanood ko to, sa QTV Channel 11 na (now GMA News TV) when it was re-aired ng 12:30-1:30 M-F at 12:30-1:00 S noong December 2006 - March 2007. Noong una, mas type ko yung Ikaw Lang Ang Mamahalin pero as I was reviewing then the events, mas na-typean ko ang story ng HKK. There is this one scene na hinding hindi ko makakalimutan. During the second chapter kasi, Erica and Emillie had a fall out. Then dumating yung time na hihingi na ng tawad si Emilie. Naaalala ko pa this time yung mga ibang linya nila pero siyempre di yung sakto. Si Emilie nun, nakailang "Sorry, kasi...", pero si Erica yung mas na-touch ako eh, yun naaalala ko pa talaga. Sabi niya., "Akala ko kaya ko eh. Akala ko kaya kong di ka patawarin. Hindi pa rin pala kita kayang tiisin. Sabi nga ng inay eh, hindi ako matatahimik kung puro galit...{chorba chorba}...hindi ako matatahimik kung hindi tayo magka-kaayos...Emillie..." sabay yakapan sila at iyakan. I was really touched by that scene. Madami din akong memories sa soap na ito, nakakatuwa pa nga na sumakto yung pilot episode airing nito na exams ko kaya maaga uwian, nakanood ako! Haha! :)

Anyway, nagustuhan ko rin yung story nito kasi makapal ang plots, at infairness ang gagaling talaga ng mga writers na napakapal nga nila and they were able to use the plot points ng maayos kasi may mga naging twist yung kuwento (that even led, I guess, to Chynna Ortaleza and Railey Valeroso being sweethearts until now. Pero si Richard G ang love team nya dito. Hehe.) na hindi i-e-expect ng mga viewers. Sige bigay na tayo halimbawa - Emillie and Pierre Paolo's real father was later revealed, it was Fausto Bravo. Noong first part ng story, Emillie was a fan of a singer named Bunny Bravo, na hindi naman sinasadyang nasagasaan siya kaya nagkakilala sila pati ang boyfriend niya noon na si Lawrence, paving Emillie to stardom and making Bunny and Emilie as rivals. Later in the story, magiging magkapatid pa sila! I can remember one confrontation scene habang kumakain, dumating si Bunny at binuhusan ng tubig si Emilie while dumakot si Emilie ng pagkain at ipinahid sa mukha ni Bunny. Haha! :)

Swerte rin ang mga artista dito kase most of them are still active until now. Toni is one of ABS-CBN's prized hosts and actresses, Albert and Ton-Ton have their own shows in ABS-CBN, while Chynna is one of the best kontrabidas in GMA. Snooky just finished 2 soaps in ABS-CBN. Richard is finishing his soap sa GMA. Yul is in Anna Karenina. Si Victor Neri and Railey Valeroso lang ang hindi masyadong visible sa TV ngayon.

Siguro, nakalinya na rin ito sa mga ireremake ng GMA dahil nauna na ang Ikaw Lang Ang Mamahalin at Sana Ay Ikaw Na Nga.

Teleserye Throwback: Iisa Pa Lamang

Iisa Pa Lamang is one of ABS-CBN's best produced teleseryes that showcased a powerhouse cast + a compelling story. This was first aired July 2008 and ended November that year.

The powerhouse cast includes: Gabby Concepcion as Rafael (his comeback after many years), Diether Ocampo as Miguel, Angelica Panganiban as Scarlett (her first kontrabida role), Melissa Ricks as Sophia, Matt Evans as Toby, Cherry Pie Picache as Isadora, Laurice Guillen as Estelle, Joel Torre as Rolando, Bembol Roco as Martin, Jestoni Alarcon as Vernon and Susan Roces as Aura. And of course, the teleserye won't be complete without its lead actress, the Optimum Teleserye Star Miss Claudine Barretto as Catherine. This was her last full-length ABS-CBN Teleserye.

The soap was written by Arlene Tamayo (Tayong Dalawa) and G3 San Diego (Magkaribal) and was directed by Ruel Santos Bayani (One More Try) and Manny Palo (A Moment In Time).

The story of Iisa Pa Lamang is about Catherine who was deprived of everything ever since. She struggles of succeeding in life along with Lola Aura while being maltreated by Isadora, and choosing between the two important men in her life, Rafael and Miguel. The story will also revolve around Catherine's vengeance against Isadora.

The plot of the story is already rich in its own, since it has been used already in other teleseryes. However, the attack of the directors, actors, and most especially the writers were different, because they added a glossy factor to the story. And we must also commend the lines during confrontation scenes. The lines were mixed with 'taray', class and humor. Here are some samples!

LOLA AURA: Itong duming ito ang pupuwing sayo!

ISADORA: Eh di magshe-shades ako!

SCARLET: Damn you!

CATHERINE: Same to you...anak.

Nagsiswimming si Catherine na may suot na diamond necklace, makikita siya ni Scarlet.

SCARLET: Magsi-swimming ka lang, nakadiamonds ka pa?

CATHERINE: Siyempre, diamonds are forever. Dive in, anak!

CATHERINE: Anak ka nga talaga ni Isadora, nakuha mong lahat sa kanya. Matapobre, mayabang, at higit sa lahat, bastos.

SOPHIA: Don't you dare say bad things about my mother! Kumpara sa'yo, anghel ang ina ko!

CATHERINE: Anghel na may sungay!

ISADORA: Ang ganda ganda mo na ngayon Catherine...sarap mong patayin!

WOMAN: Ikaw ba si Isadora Castillejos?

CATHERINE: Bakit? Mukha ba akong demonyo?!

Those are some of the many quotable and remarkable lines from the characters of Iisa Pa Lamang. The ending is also one of the things to commend here because of its difference from other teleseryes.

I am actually missing this show. Haha. And I would love to watch it over again. But not a remake please. :)

We Review: Annaliza's Pilot Week.

Nag-umpisa na last Monday, May 27, 2013, ang pilot episode ng isa sa mga inaabangang bagong teleserye ng ABS-CBN, ang Annaliza, starring Denise Laurel, Patrick Garcia, Carlo Aquino, Kaye Abad and Zanjoe Marudo and sa kanyang biggest role to date, ang dating si Blythe Gorostiza to Blythe Brillantes and now, siya na si Andrea Brillantes.

Ang Annaliza ay remake ng isa sa mga unang soap opera na umere noong 1979 (no teleserye word that time yet) na iprinoduce sa Pilipinas. Ito ay pinagbidahan ng late actress na si Julie Vega kasama sina Daria Ramirez, Albert Martinez and Renato del Prado to name a few. And guess what? Sa GMA Network ito unang ipinalabas! But based from what I've read, hindi yata sila ang producer and blocktimer lang kaya nabili ng ABS-CBN ang rights nito. Unfortunately, ang original Annaliza ay natapos with an incomplete storyline because of Julie Vega's untimely death noong 1985.

Pero eto ang konti lang ang nakakaalam! Annaliza was originally intended for a 2007 airing with Ella Cruz portraying the young Annaliza and Maja Salvador as the grown-up Annaliza. Kasama din dito sina Jason Abalos as her leading man and take note, Barbie Forteza as Annaliza's young kontrabida! Si Direk Jerry Lopez Sineneng ang director nito noon at ang writers (yata) ng Maria Flordeluna ang creative team, and under the unit of Star Creatives (Star Cinema on TV - Malou N. Santos). Ngayong 2013, Direk Theodore Boborol and Direk Cathy Camarillo collaborates in creating this soap while Miss Mel Abaygar (TGiS, Angelito) headwrites, with Sir Jurey Mirafuentes (Paraiso - Hi Sir Jurey!), Miss Margarette Labrador (Angelito), and Miss Pamela Miras (Sa Ngalan Ng Ina) join the creative team.

Anyway, sa unang linggo ng Annaliza, ipinakita kung paano nanakaw si Annaliza sa tunay niyang mga magulang. Stella (Abad) and Lazaro (Garcia) are couples pero may naghahadlang sa love nila, ang kanilang status in life. Mahirap lang si Stella kaya napagdesisyunan niyang makipaghiwalay kay Lazaro. Meanwhile, Lazaro reunites with his bestfriend Isabel (Laurel) na may gusto sa kanya, pero pinush ni Isabel si Lazaro na ipaglaban niya ang pagmamahal niya kay Stella. Unfortunately, when Lazaro tries to fight for Stella, nakita niya na may kasamang ibang lalaki si Stella. She needs to sleep with the guy dahil kailangan niya ng pera para sa kapatid niyang may sakit. Ayaw ding panagutan ni Lazaro ang baby dahil sa kaniyang nakita. Stella tries to kill herself but Guido (Marudo) sees her and saves her. Makikita naman si Stella ni Makoy (Aquino) who will instantly fall in love with her. And when Lazaro and Isabelle decides to get married, and Isabelle later on gets pregnant and give birth at nalaman ito ni Stella, inutusan niya si Makoy na nakawin ang baby. Makoy succeeds in snatching the baby, Isabelle and Lazaro were dumbfounded. Makoy then gives the baby to Guido...and decided to name her as Annaliza.

7 years later (ang alam ko 7 kasi nagbirthday si Annaliza ng 1 year old, then pinakita 6 years after ilang inserts pa...gets? Haha.), Annaliza grows up to be a jolly and kind kid na mahal na mahal ang tatay niya. Unfortunately, Guido tries his luck sa Saudi para mabigyan ng maayos na buhay si Annaliza...






And this week...aabangan natin ang pagpapakasal ni Stella at Guido at ang pag-uumpisa ng pang-aapi ni Stella kay Annaliza. At mas exciting dahil papasok na ang love story ni Sue Ramirez, at ang aking mga crush na sina Kiko Estrada at Khalil Ramos!

Anyway, pilot week pa lang ay intensified na ang mga eksena at nai-explain na ng mabuti kung bakit ganoon ang mga characters nila. Maganda ang naging presentation ng back story. Nakakatouch din ang mga eksena dahil makikita natin dito ang pagmamahal na dapat na ibigay ng isang magulang sa kanilang mga anak. And I won't forget Guido's statement na hindi welcome sa buhay nila ang mga taong mararamot sa  pagmamahal - this was when Neri Naig's character didn't say yes to Guido's marriage proposal dahil ayaw niyang kasama sa pagsisimula nila si Annaliza. And the most heartrending was Guido and Annaliza's scene kung saan nagpapaalamanan sila dahil si Guido ay pupunta ng Saudi.

This will be the first time na makikita kong hindi kontrabida or hindi support si Patrick Garcia, at parang naiba pa nga ang boses niya, mas lumiit at bumait. Bagong Kaye Abad naman ang nakita natin dito dahil ngayon lang siya magiging kontrabidang ganito, malayong malayo sa Jenny role niya sa Angelito. Carlo Aquino's portrayal kay Makoy is okay, di pa masyado nag-shine but when he was given his moment during his tensed moments na hinahanap siya ng pulis, mararamdaman mo ang tension. Zanjoe Marudo as Annaliza's dad is a great choice. Totoong siya nga ang pinakagwapong tatay ever. Haha. And his portrayal is good, makikita mo that Zanjoe is really a good actor. But for me, the grandslam winner among these stars is Denise Laurel. Sa kanilang lahat, siya lang ang gumawa ng sunod-sunod na serye that required her to do different portrayals far from each character [She played Lysa in Pintada - a teacher na humihingi ng justice dahil sa pagbintang sa kanya. The soap wrapped up in November. Pumasok siya sa Paraiso noong December as Cassandra Romano - an obsessed bitchy lawyer na gagawin ang lahat mapunta lang sa kanya ang lalaking mahal, and that ended last April 5.] Her portrayal as a mom who lost her child was really effective, naapektuhan ako, at higit sa lahat, walang bakas ni Nadja, ni Wendy, ni Emerald, ni Cassandra, or ni Lysa kay Isabelle!

But the soap opera's star, Andrea Brillantes, is the show's flag carrier. Napanindigan niya ang title role na ibinigay sa kanya. Pero si Andrea naman, magaling na talaga siya, since Kahit Puso'y Masugatan (young Veronica) and Ina Kapatid Anak (young Celyn) days pa naman. Pero eto, masasabing kanyang kanya na talaga ang show, and she deserves it.

I can feel the Angelito vibes in Annaliza, pero siguro dahil lang iisa ang musical scorer nila. Haha. :) But all I can say is Annaliza is worth more than the 5:45 timeslot (you know what I am talking about, read between the lines hahaha). Kung sa Kapamilya Gold inilagay ito, magwawala talaga ako! :) Congratulations to Direk Ted, Direk Cathy for putting up a great pilot week. Based from their track record, most especially Direk Ted's (Angelito!), magaganda ang pagkakagawa nila sa mga soap nila kaya (una silang nagkasama, I believe, sa Hiyas) I'm sure na mas matindi at mas titindi ang Annaliza!

Lagi niyo pa ring tutunghayan ang Annaliza, weekdays, 5:45 PM bago ang TV Patrol!

Teleserye Throwback: Lumayo Ka Man Sa Akin

2012 nang muling magbukas ang best-selling umbrella series ng ABS-CBN sa hapon na Precious Hearts Romances after a 9-month hiatus at inihandog sa atin ang TV Version ng isa sa mga obra ni Martha Cecilia, ang "Pangako". Pero sa TV, ang naging title nito ay "Lumayo Ka Man Sa Akin". Ito ay pinangunahan nina Jason Abalos bilang Jake Falcon, Patrick Garcia bilang Matthew de Vega, Ina Feleo bilang Karla, Ina Raymundo bilang Consuelo at Maja Salvador bilang Janine del Castillo.

Ang kwento ng Lumayo Ka Man Sa Akin ay tungkol kay Janine del Castillo at sa paghahanap niya sa kanyang pagkatao ng malaman niya sa kanyang amang si Morris na hindi niya tunay na ina ang nakilala niyang mommy na namayapa na, at ang tunay na ina niya ay nagngangalang Consuelo. Sa paghahanap niya nakilala niya ang isang lalakeng nagngangalang Jake Falcon. Madedevelop sila pero may mga kailangan silang harapin, si Matthew De Vega, ang fiancé ni Janine, at si Karla, ang kapatid sa ina ni Janine na naanakan ni Jake.

Tumakbo ang Lumayo Ka Man Sa Akin ng 15 linggo at inere sa 5PM timeslot kapalit ng top-rater sa Kapamilya Gold na Reputasyon. Nagumpisa ito noong January 23, 2012 at natapos noong May 6, 2012. Madalas na nananalo ang Lumayo sa kalaban pagdating sa ratings. Ito ay sa direksiyon ni Katski Flores (who helmed the last PHR before this na Mana Po) at Toto Natividad.

Ang mga eksenang di ko makakalimutan sa PHR presents Lumayo Ka Man Sa Akin ay nang magkabati bati si Janine, Karla at Consuelo. At nang malaman ni Consuelo na si Janine ang kanyang anak kay Morris. Nakakatouch ang mga eksenang ito at nakakaiyak. Siyempre isa rin sa mga unforgettable scenes ng palabas ay ang kasal ni Janine at ni Jake, dahil pagkatapos ng mga problema, nanaig ang pagmamahal nila sa isa't isa.

Ito ang una sa mga sasariwain nating mga teleserye sa Teleserye Throwback, ang pinakabagong segment ng aking bagong blog, ang Jimpy Loves TV...and Life Too!

We Review: What Puring Wants, Coring Needs

Last May 17 and 19, Inkamouflage presented their initial production entitled "What Puring Wants, Coring Needs" at Crossroads 77 in QC.

What Puring Wants, Coring Needs is a satirical play that provides us a peek of what goes on the television industry which includes the network wars, the ratings game, and how the networks play around the audience to win the ratings game.

The story is about Puring and Coring, as they battle and try to outsmart each other in getting the "Ang Natatanging Manonood" award, as they fight for their channel bets - Channel 18 for Coring and Channel 21 for Puring.

The production really opened my eyes into the real world of TV Soap Operas. Alam nyong lahat yan na numero unong addict ako sa mga teleseryes. However, this play, despite of my love for teleseryes, made me think. Hindi think twice about my love for teleseryes ha! Haha! Pero marami kasing sinabi ang play about the production of those. And I am so happy that I was able to watch it and I was able to see the realities of Pinoy Soap Operas.

Napakagaling lang ng pagkakasulat because sobrang totoo. Of course, I won't mention kung anong napansin ko (pero kung di ko to napansin, super slow ko, kaya nga satire diba. Haha.) kase maso-spoil. Haha. Pero sobrang tama. Isama na din ang personality ni Coring - who is the dreamer, the soft-spoken believer of fairy tale love stories, and Puring - the less ethical, jologs but smarty-smart, na nag-match sa networks na nirerepresent nila. :) Plus of course, the acting of the actresses who portrayed them are as brilliant as the story. It's also good na nagincorporate ng music sa play, though the play never had dull moments, first time akong nakanood ng ganon. Di ko lang masyadong natype-an (pero naaliw pa rin ako!) yung change of costume sa umpisa kase medyo tumagal. Though yun nga, nakakaaliw pa rin! :)

To Playwright-Director Camoco Bafflaga, I super idolize you for being so straightforward, so honest and so brave to tackle about this. Aminin natin, nagiging problema na rin ng nation ang pagiging bulag ng iba sa panunuod ng telebisyon to the point na nagiging sobra na ang influence nila sa atin (TEKA. Ako to ha. HAHAHA.). And you just opened my eyes, that maybe kailangan ko na ding limitahan ang sarili ko for being too addict, though guys di naman ako naging close-minded ha. Hahaha! Sana makilala kita, that's my new dream. :)

Bilang nangangarap na maging writer ng mga teleseryes, dapat lang talaga na mapanuod ko ito because it's an eye-opener for me, on what should we offer the audience. BUT hindi rin kasalanan ng mga writers kung bakit minsan paulit-ulit ang nakikita natin sa TV ha. I swear, they are not to blame. :) Haha.

To the people behind this play including Miss Bing Castro, Miss Rose Colindres, Miss Tanya Bautista,  Miss Chie Floresca, Sir JR Garcia and Sir Ruel Montanez and sa iba na hindi ko nabanggit (yung totoo, LMD Unit Writers Collaboration ito? Hahaha joke lang po), congratulations po for putting up a great show! Sana magbalik kayo. Madami pang mata ang dapat buksan at gustong mabuksan. :)

But in the end, isa lang masasabi ko, TELESERYE ADDICT pa rin ako...BUT SMARTER. :)

Dream Ko: Meeting Your Inspirations

Last October 25, 2012, alam naman nating lahat na naimbitahan ako para sa Press Conference ng teleseryeng Precious Hearts Romances presents Paraiso ng headwriter nito na si Miss Bing Castro. Doon na-meet ko ang creative team ng show which consists of, of course Miss Bing, then Sir Julius Villanueva (not in the pic), Miss Bianca Geli, Sir Mike Transfiguracion and Sir Jurey Mirafuentes. And of course, it's an honor meeting them dahil pangarap ko ring maging katulad nila. :)

Then last April 5, 2013, ininvite uli ako ni Miss Bing at her place for a Paraiso Finale Viewing Party. :) Dito nakasama ko uli  si Miss Bianca at Sir Julius, at mas in-depth at matagal ang naging bonding namin. Yes super bonding talaga kasi mula 3PM to 11 PM andun kami ng bestfriend kong si Cher. And oo, di nga ako mahilig magpa-gabi or bawal ako magpa-gabi pero siyempre, minsan ko lang naman sila makasama at sobrang saya. :D As in super, kahit habang iniisip ko pa rin ngayon nangingiti ako. Haha! :D Super dami kong natutunan from the experiences and lessons they shared at hanggang ngayon, nakainstill pa rin sa akin. :D

Pero last Sunday, ininvite ulit kami ni Miss Bing na manuod ng play na What Puring Wants, Coring Needs. I already posted my review sa isang link at kung tungkol saan ang play kaya di ko na isu-summarize. Haha. Nakakaloka yung araw na yun kase before the play, something happened sa akin, nahilo ako sa biyahe and I ended up throwing lahat ng kinain ko, sa MRT pa, buti na lang umabot sa CR. Haha. ;)

Pero sabi nga nila, "Hirap muna bago sarap", dahil bawing bawi ako. Una na diyan ay napakaganda ng napanood ko. Sobrang ganda. At habang nanunuod ako, nadisturb ako sa kabilang row dahil familiar ang nasa kabila...yun pala ay si Direk Ted Boborol of Angelito and upcoming Anna Liza! Haha. :) Sayang lang at di ko siya nabati kasi umalis na siya agad...bago naman kami lumabas ay nakausap ko rin si Sir Ruel Montanez (Lumayo Ka Man Sa Akin) na very accommodating and then paglabas namin after the play, Miss Bing introduced me to Miss Rose Colindres (of Mula sa Puso and Angelito), very kind niya kahit saglit lang kami nagka-encounter. :)

Tapos eto na, nag-uusap usap kami nila Miss/Ate Bianca (Geli), Inna, Cher, and Miss Bing about May Isang Pangarap...nang biglang lumabas sa elevator ang writer nito at idol na idol ko talaga na si Miss Noreen Capili. Jusko, napanganga na lang talaga ako nung makita ko siya. As in super. And siyempre I grabbed the chance na magpa-picture sa kanya! Grabe, ang bait bait niya, and ang bango ng perfume niya. :) Sabi ko, parang dati lang sa Formspring ko lang siya nakakausap [Remember my 2011 blog entry: http://jimpylovestv.blogspot.com/2011/05/i-am-inspired-by-television-writer.html] , ngayon nakita ko na siya, and as far as I remember, parang nakilala niya ako when I saw her. Grabe ang saya. :)

Then nakita ko rin sina: Miss Clarissa Estuar (Pintada), Miss Chie Floresca, Sir Jose Ruel Garcia (A Beautiful Affair) and had a chat with Miss Tanya Winona Bautista (Impostor, A Beautiful Affair) na very kind, humorous and pretty! :D

And after non, hang out pa kami kasama si Ate Bianca. Bongga diba? :)
